This painting, done in acrylic, is of a Crow shield showing a symbolic Cross representing the Resurrection Power of Jesus and a circular moon representing the universe. The symbolic Bull Moose is the largest and most fearless animal of the deer family, which has been known to attack predators out of sheer curiosity or when provoked, to protect family members. The symbolic Bear is a Montana Grizzly, one of the largest and most ferocious members of the bear family and just as courageous as any mammal in the animal kingdom. The peaceful village is representative of the Crows who befriended the white man to protect their lands and following the vision of Chief Plenty Coups, a member of the Sore Lip Clan of the Crows. Pretty Shield, also of the Sore Lip Clan, in her book recounted her family owning a wild Grizzly bear cub until the bear got older and left on its own to rejoin its own species in the wild animal kingdom. Therefore, this is a true representation of a Crow Warrior's shield, a people who were often surrounded by enemies, similar in Language and custom to the Israelites of Biblical times.
